A Project is where you organize sermon content and create materials for a specific message. Projects serve as the central hub for your sermon, housing your files, details, and any content you generate from them.
â
When you open Content Studio, youâll land by default on the Projects screen. From here, you can view all your existing Projects, create new ones, or open a Project to continue working on it.
Note that while generating Clips costs Clip Credits, creating new Projects in Content Studio is free and unlimited.
Why Use Projects
Projects help keep your work organized week after week. By creating a new Project for each sermon, you can:
Keep sermon files, notes, and generated content together in one place
Easily group and filter your work by Sermon Series, Preaching Date, or Speaker
Collaborate with your team inside Content Studio
This makes it simple to find what you need later, whether youâre preparing a follow-up message, repurposing a past sermon, or building content for a new platform.
Creating a Project
To create a new Project:
From the Projects screen, click + Add Project.
âIn order to get started, your Project needs some source content. Only 1 piece of content (later called a File) is needed to create a Project, but more can be added later- jump down to the Managing Files section of this guide to learn more.
If your sermon has already been recorded (audio or video) and is available online, you can paste the link in the box. Common places to upload from include Google Drive, Vimeo, Youtube, and Dropbox.
If your sermon has been recorded (audio or video) and you have the file directly available, you can upload the file. Accepted formats are MP4, MP3, WAV, MOV, OGG, WEBM and M4A.
If you have no recording and want to create your Project based on sermon notes, an outline, a full manuscript, or even just a brief sermon description, you can paste the raw text.
Whichever method you choose, click Continue once you've added your source material.
Next, confirm what type of file youâre uploading, and click Continue.
For pasted links and audio/video uploads, the media will be automatically detected and you can set a start and end time if you want to exclude announcements, worship, etc.
For raw text, your options are Sermon Outline or Full Manuscript
Enter your Sermon Title, and (optionally) select a Preaching Date, Speaker, Sermon Series, Scripture References, and Upload Language. You can read more about these optional fields below in the section on Project Details. When you're finished, click Create Project.
Youâll be taken back to your main Projects page, and the new Project will appear in the top left slot. Click on the Project to go to its Project Workspace, the place where you can edit details, upload additional files, and start generating content.â
â
Project Details
Each Project contains a few key details that help you stay organized:
Sermon Series: A tag that lets you group Projects belonging to the same series. You can also filter by Series when browsing the Projects screen or Content Library.
Preaching Date: The date the sermon was (or will be) delivered.
Speaker: The pastor or person who gave (or will give) the message.
These fields not only help with organization, but also allow Content Studio to tailor the content it generates to your context. You will be given the option to set them when creating your Project, but you can also update them at any time. When you click into your Project, all 3 will be shown at the top of the screen. Click on any of them to update it.
Note that for Sermon Series and Speaker, you will be given a dropdown list to choose from. This list is completely created and managed by you and your team, and can also be managed on your Settings tab under the Content section. But if you'd like to add a new Series or Speaker directly from your Project page, just click Manage Series or Manage Speakers to add, change, or delete Series and Speakers.
Managing Files
When creating a new Project you'll need to add at least one source file like an audio/video file, transcript, or sermon outline. Once you've created the Project you can add new files or remove old ones. Adding multiple file types helps Content Studio better understand your message and create richer, more relevant content.
The Project Details section at the top of your Project will show any files you've already added. To view your uploaded file(s), just click the File button.
Pro tip: As you add and delete files, Content Studio will automatically update its understanding of your sermon to use as context when creating new content. However, if any content has already been generated, it will not automatically update with the new context. If you create a Project but then add or remove files that significantly change the context, it would be wise to delete any content that has already been generated and recreate it.
Adding New Files
To add a new file, click Upload File.
Next, select if the file you are uploading is a Draft (written content like a transcript or outline) or a Recording (audio/video). Click Continue.
Similar to your initial Project creation, if you are adding written content you will simply copy/paste the text, and if you are adding audio/video content you will either paste the link or upload the file. Whichever option you choose, click Continue when finished and your new file will be added to the project.
Removing Files
If you decide a file is no longer relevant to your project, you can easily delete it. Simply click File at the top of your Project page and then click on the file you'd like to delete.
Then click the red Delete button in the bottom left corner.
Sharing a Project
By default, all of the Projects in your Content Studio account are shared with other members of your team inside Content Studio. This lets everyone collaborate on the same sermon content, upload files, or generate new materials together.
â
Projects are shared only within Content Studio. If you want to publish or share finished materials outside the platform, youâll do that from your generated content (see Publishing Your Content via Pages).
Creating Content
Once your Project is set up, you're ready to begin generating content! Some content is generated automatically when you upload a project - they are the Transcript, Summary, 5-Day Devotional, and YouTube Chapters (if its a video upload). But the opportunities to refine and edit it and to generate custom content for each Project are endless!
â
You can adjust what is generated automatically at upload by going into Templates, and toggling the Favorited star on or off on specific templates.
Within your project, all of the content you create from your sermon files will appear in the Generated Content panel on the right side of your Project Workspace. From here, you can review, edit, or publish your materials.
