Using AI Chat and Custom Prompts

A useful guide to help familiarize yourself with the AI Chat feature

AI Chat is your built-in writing assistant in Content Studio. You can use it for multiple purposes such as brainstorming ideas, writing content, improving drafts, and working with the resources in your project.

Note: If you used Church.tech’s Ministry Tools or Playground before, those tools are now part of Chat.

What is Chat?

Think of Chat like ChatGPT, but designed specifically for your church and content needs. It can use the content available in your project, such as scripture references, stories, and other uploaded resources and works within the theological and ministry context you’ve set for your church.

There’s no need to create the perfect prompt the first time. Start the conversation with what you need, and refine it as you go!

How to Navigate and Utilize Chat

To locate the chat feature in Content Studio, you'll want to first head to your Projects page and click into any one of them that are displayed.

Once you click into your project, you'll be met with a list of video, audio, and written content for that specific project. Move the toggle to Chat to begin utilizing this helpful tool!

What do you want to accomplish?

The best place to start is with your goal. Instead of writing "generate small group questions", you may want to be a bit more specific to receive responses that are more catered to your task.

Let's try "Create 6 small group discussion questions based on this sermon. Make them easy to understand and encourage people to share personal experiences."

The second example gives Chat more direction about what you are needing!

Keep the conversation going

It's very likely that the content that is first generated is not what you were looking for, so don't hesitate to be as specific as you'd like. Include your audience, your format preferences, and what the finished result should look like.

Chat is a great tool when you want to work through something conversationally, but you don’t always have to start from scratch. That’s where the Prompt Library comes in.

What is The Prompt Library?

The Prompt Library is your collection of ready-to-use AI tools. You can open the Prompt Library from Chat and choose a prompt instead of writing your own instructions.

The library includes two types of prompts:

  • Gloo prompts- Pre-built prompts created by the Gloo/Content Studio team

  • Custom Prompts- Prompts you create and save for your own workflows

Gloo Prompts

These premade prompts are useful when you know what you want to accomplish, but aren't sure exactly what to ask Chat. When you select one, you can view a brief description on the right of what that prompt will include.

If you need help developing sermon content, look through the available Gloo prompts to find a prompt that matches your task. Choose the prompt and let Chat get you started! You can then continue the conversation and ask for changes just like you would with any other Chat response.

Custom Prompts

The Custom tab lets you create prompts specifically for the way you or your church works. Custom prompts are especially useful for repeatable tasks. If you find yourself typing the same instructions into Chat over and over, that's a good sign that you should create a Custom prompt!

To create a custom prompt, you'll want to click into your Prompt Library and click the Custom option on the left. From there, click New Custom Prompt and begin creating.

Creating a custom prompt can be quite simple! Try to start with something you do frequently. For example, if you often participate in or facilitate small group sessions, you could start with creating small group questions. Remember, be as specific as necessary for what you want to accomplish.

Once you're happy with your prompt, give it a clear name that will make sense when you see it later.

When everything looks good, click Create!

Note: At the bottom of your Custom Prompt, you’ll find two toggles:

Dynamic Content- makes the prompt available as a Custom Section in Template Editor.

Shared- Lets other team members use the prompt. Shared prompts appear under the Shared tab; otherwise, they appear under Private.

Both Chat and the Prompt Library are wonderful tools designed to support you in serving your church. If you're unsure which one to choose, here is a helpful tip: use Chat when you have a specific question or want to have a conversation, and head to the Prompt Library when you are looking for a ready-made tool to use right away. If you want a bit of both, turn to the Custom Prompts!
