🌐 How to Connect Your Custom Domain to Content Studio

Want Content Studio pages to use your church’s website?

If you want your Content Studio pages to appear on your church’s own website (instead of a Content Studio link), you can connect a custom domain or subdomain.

For example, instead of sharing:

page.church/9102909
​

You can share:

⭐️ groups.yourchurch.com

✅ Why Connect a Custom Domain?

Connecting a custom domain lets you:

  • Share pages using your church’s own web address

  • Keep your branding consistent

  • Make links easier for your congregation to recognize and trust

Step 1: Choose the Domain You Want to Use

Connect your subdomain:

Example:
​groups.yourchurch.com
​devotions.yourchurch.com

Most churches use a subdomain so their main website stays unchanged.

Step 2: Add the Domain in Content Studio

  1. Go to Settings → Domains

  2. Click Add Domain

  3. Enter the domain or subdomain you want to use


    ➡ Example: groups.firstchurch.com
    ​

  4. Click Continue

Step 3: Update Your Domain Provider Settings (DNS Settings)

To finish setup, you’ll add one simple DNS record in the place where your domain is managed.

This is usually through providers like:

  • GoDaddy

  • Squarespace

  • Namecheap

  • Wix

  • Cloudflare

Content Studio will show you a record that looks like this:

‼️What to Do Next

Log in to your domain provider (ex. GoDaddy, Squarespace) and find the DNS settings, then:

  1. Create a new A Record

  2. Enter the host name (your subdomain) ➡ Example: groups.firstchurch.com

  3. Paste the IP address provided by Content Studio ➡ 109.105.222.221

  4. Save your changes

Step 4: Wait for Your Domain to Become Active

After saving your DNS record:

  • Wait a few minutes (usually 5–30 minutes)

  • Your domain will move from Verifying → Active

DNS updates can take up to 24 hours in rare cases.

Step 5: Verify Domain

Click: Create Domain

Then you'll see Custom Domain Settings:

After creating your Domain, you'll see a list of Domains and the status pending verification.

This process can take anywhere between 5 mins to 24 hours in some cases.

Once Active: Your Pages Will Use Your Church’s Web Address

When your domain is active, your Content Studio pages will be available at:

👉 groups.firstchurch.com

Now, any time you copy and share a page link, it will automatically use your connected domain. 🎉

Setting a Default Domain (If You Have More Than One)

If you connect multiple domains, you can choose which one is used automatically when sharing.

To set a default:

  1. Click the ⋮ menu next to a domain

  2. Select Set as Default

Do I need technical experience to do this?

Not at all — most users can complete setup in just a few minutes.

Will this affect my main church website?

No. Connecting a subdomain (like groups.yourchurch.com) will not change your main website.

What if my domain stays “Verifying”?

That’s normal right after setup. DNS changes can take some time to fully update.
